Golf: Tiger wants booze ban
by DEREK LAWRENSON, Daily Mail
Tiger Woods has called for an alcohol ban at golf's Ryder Cup to avoid a repeat of the rowdy crowd scenes which scarred the 1999 clash between America and Europe at Brookline.
The teams meet again at The Belfry in September and Woods said: 'As far as I can see from my experience of two Ryder Cups, most of the problems stem from drink.
'The morning matches are always so much more subdued than the afternoon and you can see people becoming more boisterous the more they drink. It's great to have patriotism but unfortunately drink leads people to say things that are just not appropriate at all.
'You'd like to see a total ban on alcohol, but obviously that's not going to happen.'
One of the sponsors of the Ryder Cup is Michelob beer.
