Andy Murray's return to action is set to take place in the shadow of David Beckham's debut for LA Galaxy next month.
The Scot's coach, Brad
Gilbert, confirmed
yesterday that Murray's
comeback is scheduled
for the relatively low-key
Los Angeles Open, which
happens in the same
week as Beckham makes
his bow in American
soccer.

Murray will be at the
$525,000 tournament
when it begins on July 16,
providing he gets the
all-clear from doctors on
his injured wrist
following a scan next
week.
If he does, Gilbert hopes the forlorn attempt to be
ready for Wimbledon will
be a good thing in the
long run.
"Every once in a while
adversity helps build
character," said Gilbert,
who added that Murray
has been frustrated by
not playing at the French
Open or at SW19.
Gilbert also explained
the events that led to
mixed messages coming
from the Murray camp
leading up to his
withdrawal.
Murray
played three sets on
Saturday and made
progress, Gilbert said,
but doctors decided the
20-year-old was 10 days
away from full fitness.
