German officials to referee England match

German officials will take charge of England's first match of Euro 2004 against France in Lisbon on Sunday.
Markus Merk, a dentist from Kaiserslautern who oversaw the 2003 Champions League final at Old Trafford, will referee the game with Christian Schraer and Jan-Hendrik Salver running the lines.
Lubos Michel of Slovakia will be the fourth official.
Italian referee Pierluigi Collina will take charge of the tournament opener between hosts Portugal and Greece on Saturday, while English official Mike Riley will oversee his first game of the championships when Sweden play Bulgaria in Lisbon on Monday.
His assistants will be fellow Englishmen Philip Sharp and Glenn Turner, with Scotland's Stuart Dougal acting as fourth official.
