Petrescu set for Saints switch
Bradford wing-back Dan Petrescu is set to join Premiership rivals Southampton.
The Romanian international has been informed by Bantams boss Jim Jefferies that he, along with Benito Carbone and Stan Collymore, do not have a future at Valley Parade.
Petrescu, 33, has three-and-a-half years remaining of a contract worth £15,000-a-week at Valley Parade, which he signed after joining the club from Chelsea last summer.
Bradford manager Jim Jefferies said: "He is talking to Southampton at the moment so we will wait and see what develops. It is a situation which suits both clubs.
"He's got three-and-a-half years left on his contract so we're making a saving on that side and obviously that will help the club.
"But it's not about Dan going for financial reasons. He is a good player.
"Along with the other two (Carbone and Collymore), it is purely a football matter because facts are facts, we are bottom of the league after 21 games and they've been playing regularly, but it has not worked."
Paris St Germain are understood to have made tentative enquiries concerning Collymore, who recently saw a move to German club VfB Stuttgart fall through, while Italian outfit Udinese are interested in Carbone.
Jefferies added: "I feel we've a better chance of beating relegation without them and that's no disrespect to them or their talent."
