Tennis: Greg books a date with Hewitt
British number two Greg Rusedski booked a date with world number one Lleyton Hewitt after needing only 59 minutes to defeat qualifier Lionel Roux 6-3 6-2 in the second round of the RCA Championships in Indianapolis.
Rusedski, seeded 14, only dropped six points in eight service games and he never faced a break point.
He said: "I was happy with the way I started and getting off to a 3-0 lead set the tone for the match.
"I'm looking forward to the next match and this is a great test for me leading into the US Open."
Top seed Hewitt progressed with a 6-3 7-5 victory over Alberto Martin of Spain.
"I was holding my serve rather easily and he was trying to attack more in the second set," said the Australian.
"Greg has a huge left-handed serve and he's a tough player and he doesn't give you much rhythm."
Hewitt holds a slender 3-2 advantage over Rusedski from past meetings.
Fifth seed Tim Henman scraped through to the third round with a patchy 6-3 1-6 7-5 success over Nicolas Massu of Chile.
The British number one will now face Holland's Martin Verkerk, a 6-4 7-5 conqueror of Germany's Alexander Popp.
Henman said he wanted to turn things around after losing to another Chilean, Fernando Gonzalez, in the second round in Cincinnati last week.
"I was disappointed with the way I played last week," he said.
"Massu is a very tough player and I beat him before on clay, then lost to him on hard courts. I knew it was going to be a tough match.
"I didn't think the tennis was great but I was happy to get through it. His game is similar to Gonzalez and he doesn't give you any rhythm."
