Michaela lifts the gold
Wales weightlifter Michaela Breeze took one gold and two silvers in the women's 58kg final at Manchester's International Convention Centre.
The 23-year-old, who was born in Watford, was one of only four lifters competing and her successful third attempt at 87.5kgs was enough to leave her in first place in the snatch.
Canada's Maryse Turcotte took silver while India's Sunaina Sunaina took bronze.
Breeze, sixth in the 2000 European Championships, entered the clean and jerk with a weight of 107.5kgs and lifted it to break her personal best.
To Breeze's obvious delight, she took her final opportunity to lift 112.5kgs but Turcotte's success at 115kgs meant the 27-year-old took gold and the overall title with Breeze finishing second overall and in the clean and jerk.
Sunaina ended the event with three bronze medals.
Meanwhile, there was no home joy in the women's 53kg final.
In the snatch, England's Joanne Calvino endured a miserable time as she failed with her three attempts at 62.5kgs and left the stage in tears.
Her compatriot Dyana Altenor, who trains at Bethnal Green, recorded a best lift of 62.5kgs with Scotland's Kirstie Law going one better and lifting 65kgs.
However, none of those weights disturbed the three medalists, with India's Sanamacha Chanu taking gold with a best of 82.5kgs, three-times Oceania champion Natasha Barker took silver for Australia with her compatriot Seen Lee taking bronze with a lift of 75kgs.
In the clean and jerk, Calvino's first attempt was hindered by the ringing of a mobile phone from the crowd and her humiliation was complete when she was unable to put any scores on the board all afternoon.
Altenor's best was 80kgs and Law accomplished a lift of 77.5kgs but it was Chanu who took gold and the combined crown.
Barker had to settle for three silvers and Lee claimed a trio of bronze medals.
