Cricket: Gough back for England
Darren Gough was named in England's NatWest Series team today to make his comeback after knee surgery, against Sri Lanka at Headingley.
The Yorkshire fast bowler's injury has prevented him from playing for his country since February, and he has not featured for his county first team either in that time.
But, having passed a fitness test on his right knee yesterday, he was brought in at the expense of left-arm slow bowler Ashley Giles.
Today's match was shortened by heavy overnight and morning rain and was set to be reduced to 32-overs-a-side with a scheduled start time of 2.45pm.
England were otherwise unchanged from the side which lost to India at Lord's on Saturday.
But Sri Lanka, also beaten by India at the weekend, replaced like for like with Avishka Gunawardene coming in for his fellow left-handed batsman Naveed Nawaz.
There was also a recall for Kumar Sangakkara in place of Buddika Fernando, meaning Sri Lanka had added an extra batsman and lost a seam-bowling option.
The shortened match meant the usual 15-over fielding restrictions would instead last nine overs. Two bowlers would be allowed a maximum seven overs, and three could bowl six.
England captain Nasser Hussain won the toss and decided to bowl first.
