The BAFTA Games Awards returns in April 2018 for the 14th time to recognise the video game industry’s best creations of the past year.
Horizon Zero Dawn, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Fortnite all feature prominently in the BAFTA Games Awards 2018 nominations, while the controversial Star Wars: Battlefront II scored just one nomination, in the Audio Achievement category.
As well as being live-streamed for the first time, the BAFTA Games Awards will also feature a new category in 2018: Game Beyond Entertainment, which will recognise games that ‘deliver a transformational experience beyond pure entertainment’.
Fortnite was one of the year's standout games, with even the Canadian rapper Drake playing it

What are the BAFTA Games Awards?
The BAFTA Games Awards is part of the BAFTA institution and was set up in 2004. It was preceded by the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards held from 1998 to 2003.
The awards are considered the most prestigious awards in the UK video game industry.
When are the BAFTA Games Awards 2018?
The 2018 BAFTA Games Awards will be held on Thursday, April 12 at the Troxy in London.
The awards ceremony will begin at 6:30pm GMT.
Who is hosting BAFTA Games Awards 2018?
Dara O’Briain is coming back to host the 2018 BAFTA Games Awards show. It will be the Irish comedian’s eighth time presenting the awards.

‘Returning to host the British Academy Games Awards fills me with both excitement and trepidation. It’s a chance to celebrate the brilliant achievements of an incredible, creative industry,’ O’Briain said.
‘But to prepare to host BAFTA’s Film Awards you just have to watch a few DVDs … To prepare for this, I have to save worlds, win wars, race cars, score goals and travel from end of the galaxy to the other. Somebody pass me a controller, quick!’

For the first time, the BAFTA Games Awards will be live-streamed on all the major platforms including BAFTA’s own Twitch channel, Twitter via @BAFTAGames, YouTube, Mixer and Facebook.

The awards will also be streamed on consoles such as PS4, Xbox and through platforms such as AppleTV and Amazon Fire.
2018 BAFTA Games Awards nominations
In the Best Game category, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Super Mario Odyssey, What Remains of Edith Finch, have all been nominated.
