In this day and age, most of us rely on a power bank to keep our phone going while we’re out and about. There’s nothing worse than running out of battery halfway through your commute, or when you need to order a taxi at the end of the night.

In the last few years, people have become used to carrying around a big, heavy device to charge their phone when needed.

So INIU have come up with their new Pocket Rocket P50 – the world’s smallest 10,000mAh power bank that weighs just 160g – to make life easier and handbags lighter.

Our verdict

The device, which costs under £30, comes in a range of cute colours and fits easily in the palm of your hand.

It contains enough energy to fully charge your iPhone 16 twice, and can take your phone from a low battery to around 60 per cent in just 25 minutes.

INIU – whose motto is ‘Small size, big impact’, kindly sent The Daily Mail’s Executive Science Editor Xantha Leatham the device to test.

It fits neatly in my bag and has quickly become one of my most relied-upon possessions.

This power bank does everything it promises. It really is very small and light while providing a quick charge to my ever-depleted iPhone.

I’m consistently surprised at how quickly it boosts my phone’s battery, meaning I don’t need to leave it plugged in for hours on end.

It was one of the most useful gadgets I recently took on honeymoon and meant I didn’t have to worry about my phone or GoPro running out of juice halfway through an excursion.

What’s more is that it’s incredibly cheap – at just under £30 – and it’s likely most of my family and friends will be receiving one for Christmas.

INIU Pocket Rocket Review

Size

According to INIU, the power bank is 45 per cent smaller than the standard 10,000mAh devices.

It measures just 8.3cm x 5.2cm x 2.6cm (3.3in x 2in x 1in) and is almost as compact as an AirPods Pro case.

Compared to other power banks, it can fit easily into my handbag or back pocket and is so light you hardly even know it’s there.

Weighing in at just 160g, it’s similar to carrying around an apple or a pair of sunglasses in their case.

This makes it much easier to transport than previous devices which were clunky, heavy and couldn’t fit in a clutch bag.

It also comes in a range of different colours including black, blue and pink, meaning there’s one for everybody.

The size of the charger makes it really helpful for day trips out, meaning you can give your devices a boost without carrying a heavy power pack

Charging capacity

The Pocket Rocket can be used to charge phones, tablets, smartwatches and even laptops.

It can bring an iPhone 16 up to 63 per cent in just 25 minutes, and a Samsung S24 Ultra up to 73 per cent in the same amount of time.

The device can even charge a MacBook Air, delivering a 42 per cent charge in under half an hour – perfect for emergencies without the bulk.

The Pocket Rocket was able to charge my iPhone 15 nearly 2.5 times over on a single charge, while INIU say it can charge your AirPods an impressive 11.5 times.

It’s airline approved – meaning I could continue to shamelessly watch Love Is Blind on an 11-hour flight without interruption.

The ‘TinyCell’ technology the portable charger uses also has a temperature control system, which took away any concerns about my phone getting too hot or its battery life depleting.

And the device itself can recharge in as little as two hours – so it’s soon ready to power up your devices once again.

Ease of use

One of my favourite things about this device is that it comes with a carrying strap that also doubles as a charging cable.

Gone are the days of trying to loop a cable around your portable charger – which inevitably comes undone in your bag.

A handy digital display lets me know how much power it has left, while one USB port and two ‘C’ ports allows for charging multiple devices at once.

One user person described the Pocket Rocket as a ‘Brilliant little power bank that hits the sweet spot between size and capacity’ – a review I couldn’t agree with more.

Price

The device usually retails on Amazon for £38.99, but is currently on offer for just £29.68.

I believe it’ll make an excellent Christmas present for friends who constantly ask to borrow your portable charger, or family members who have an old phone that loses battery quickly.

The Pocket Rocket is currently rated 4.6* on Amazon, with buyers praising its portability and power delivery. One person described it as a ‘Brilliant little power bank that hits the sweet spot between size and capacity’

How does it compare to similar products

The JIGA 27,000mAh powerbank is one of the highest rated online. It is a portable charger which boasts enough juice to power your iPhone up to five times, and comes with an inbuilt flashlight.

While it has the capability of powering up your phone more times than the INIU device, it's much larger - measuring 15.49cm x 3.51cm x 7.59cm.

It's also double the weight, at 380g, meaning it will feel much heavier to carry around.

While the JIGA product is cheaper - currently on offer at £19.98 down from £26.49 - I don't think it's worth the compromise on size and weight.

How does it rate online

The INIU Pocket Rocket is rated 4.6 out of 5, based on 895 user reviews. One person described it as the 'best power bank I've owned so far' while another commented that 'good things come in small packages'.

The main negative reviews talk about it being slow to charge back up from being completely dead.

One of my favourite things about this device is that it comes with a carrying strap that also doubles as a charging cable.
