Your lotto luck is in if your name is John or Margaret
You are more likely to win the lottery if your name is Susan or Patricia
If you're dreaming of good fortune in tonight's lottery draw, forget about four leaf clovers and horseshoes - and look at your name.
According to National Lottery records, you're most likely to strike it lucky if you're called John or Margaret.
But don't despair if you're named David, Susan, Peter or Patricia - because you're in with a good chance too.
Among those who have scooped £50,000 or more, the most popular men's names are John, David, Michael, Peter, Robert, James, Paul, William and Stephen.
And the luckiest women are named Margaret, Susan, Patricia, Mary, Christine, Elizabeth, Jean, Janet, Linda and Karen.
The National Lottery released the names ahead of tonight's £17million draw. No entrant has matched all six numbers in the last three draws, making it the fifth Lotto Triple Rollover in its 15-year history.
But the jackpot cannot roll over for another week - so if no one matches all six numbers tonight, the prize will go to the entrant with the most correct numbers.
A National Lottery spokesman said: 'If you aren't lucky enough to be called John or Margaret, perhaps this is the time to form a syndicate with your fortunately-named friends, and why not invite David and Susan too?
'The jackpot prize has got to be won tonight.'
