Donald Trump met families of nine dead black men and women behind closed doors at the White House. They were the families of:
AHMAUD ARBERY
Jogger, 25, shot dead by Travis McMichaels after being pursued by McMichaels and his father Gregory, a retired cop and DA's investigator, in February near his home in Brunswick, GA. Another man, William Bryan, videoed it while pursuing him too. All three white men were charged with murder after an outcry when video surfaced in May and questions over why two DAs both refused to charge them
MICHAEL DEAN
Unarmed father, 28, killed after traffic stop in Temple, Texas. Police did not disclose his death to the public for 24 hours. Cop Carmen DeCruz was charged with second-degree manslaughter in February
BOTHAM JEAN
PWC accountant, 26, who was sitting in his apartment eating ice cream when off-duty Dallas PD officer Amber Guyger, a neighbor, entered it and shot and killed him in September 2018. She claimed she thought she walked into her own apartment and feared for her life. Initially she was only charged with manslaughter, which was upgraded to murder after protests. Guyger is serving a 10-year sentence
ATATIANA JEFFERSON
Pre-med graduate, 28, who was shot through her own window in October in Fort Worth, Texas, by cop Aaron Dean. She was playing video games with her nephew when a neighbor saw an open door and called cops. Dean shouted 'hands up' then shot her; her nephew said she took her legally owned gun from her purse when she heard noise. Dean was indicted on a murder charge in December
CAMERON LAMB
Father of three, 26, who was shot and killed while sitting in his truck behind a house in Kansas City, Missouri in December 2019. Police say he had been chasing another car but the chase was over when two plain-clothes officers approached him. What happened next remains unclear. Case remains under review by local prosecutors
EVERETT PALMER
Paratrooper veteran, 41, surrendered to York County Prison, Pennsylvania in December 2018 and was dead two days later. Prison guards performing a welfare check restrained him, tasered him, put him in a 'spit hood' and shackled him. He died shortly after and had methamphetamine in his system. His family allege in a federal suit that he was drugged and that his death was homicide; nobody has been charged
JEMEL ROBERSON
Armed security guard, 26, who was restraining an armed suspect in a shooting at the bar he was guarding in Robbins, Illinois in November 2018. Midlothian SWAT team leader Ian Covey shot Roberson five seconds after telling him to drop his gun. A witness heard another cop say: 'Man you didn't have to do that. We told you they're security.' Midlothian Police first called Roberson - an aspiring police officer who was legally armed - 'an armed subject' before calling his death 'friendly fire.' Covery was put on administrative leave but he appears not to have been punished
ANTWON ROSE
17-year-old honor roll student was shot dead when running from police in East Pittsburgh, PA, after the car he was in was pulled over, suspected of being part of a drive-by shooting. Officer Michael Rosfeld, who had been sworn in to the department hours earlier, was charged with criminal homicide but acquitted amid conflicting evidence on whether Rose had been armed before he ran from the car
DARIUS TARVER
23-year-old University of North Texas criminal justice student was shot and killed by police outside his home in Denton, TX, in January after neighbors reported he was acting in a disturbed way in the early hours. Police say he approached them with a frying pan and cleaver and injured a cop before being shot, but his family say he was suffering a mental health crisis a week after a car crash which they believe caused traumatic brain injury. His father, a police chaplain, says officers did nothing to de-escalate the situation
