The Dutch Fokker company once ruled the skies, with its most successful period being the 1920s and 1930s.

The aviation company entered bankruptcy in 1996 and its operations were sold to its competitors.

The Fokker 100 is a medium-sized, twin-turbofan jet airliner.

As of 2017, 113 Fokker jets remain in service across the globe.

The main airlines still using the aircraft are in Australia and Iran.

QantasLink (Australia), Iran Aseman Airlines (Iran) and Alliance Airlines (Australia) are three companies with the most Fokker 100 planes.

It's reported that in Australia, they are used to transport miners across the country.

They have a low utilisation rate with just 1,200 hours of travel per year.

Despite their use in Australia and Iran, countries are in the process of phasing the Fokker 100 out of service.
