The Base is an invitation-only network allegedly founded by Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans which inspires white supremacists to carry out violent attacks.

The group gives members the tools to carry out lone wolf attacks but meet-ups are encouraged however they 'must be related to survivalism, personal self-defense, camping, hiking, bushcraft, off-grid living, operational tradecraft, [and/or] small unit tactics,' Vice reports.

The group encourages members to attend what has been dubbed 'hate camps'. They tell members the military training is in order to protect 'our people's extinction'.

Members are preparing for a fight against the US government based on the anti-Semitic conspiracy that all western power is controlled by Jews.

Spit into 'cells' across the US and Canada, The Base supplies manuals 'lone wolf terror-tactics, gunsmithing, data mining, interrogation tactics, counter-surveillance techniques, bomb making, chemical weapons creation, and guerilla warfare,' Vice reports.

Members communicate using encrypted messaging service Riot but must pass a vetting process first. The application includes questions on what 'military' and 'Science & Engineering Training' potential members have had.

Members are able to chat on eight channels; Imperium, self-defense, books, music, activity reports, trainers, survivalism, and the user's locale, Vice reports.

Far right groups Atomwaffen Division and the Eco-Fascist Order (EFO) are reportedly users of the online network.
