Police seize arms cache
Police seized a substantial stockpile of republican weaponry following a house raid, It was disclosed today.
One man was arrested following the seizure of bombs and guns at the house in Carlisle Road in the republican New Lodge area, said a police spokesman.
Officers recovered four steel-cased pipe bombs packed with ball bearings and nails, an anti-personnel mine containing high explosives and two detonators.
A sub machine, a large quantity of ammunition and a single barrel shotgun were also recovered in the search just before midnight, police said.
Extra police have been drafted into North Belfast following last week's rioting in which over 80 officers were injured when they came under attack from both republican and loyalist mobs.
