Four die in French shooting
Two hooded gunmen in military fatigues opened fire in a street in the central French city of Tours today, killing four people and wounding 10, the Interior Ministry said.
The shooting took place shortly before 10 a.m. near the city's railway station.
Local officials said police had detained one man, who was injured when they returned fire. The man, apparently a former soldier, was under guard in hospital.
Police sealed off the city centre and were searching for the second gunman, who they believed had fled into an underground car park.
An Interior Ministry spokesman said two of the wounded were police officers. None of the injured was in serious condition.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear. The town hall said the gunmen had arrived at the scene of the shooting in a car, which they later abandoned.
