British workers spend about a third of their working day slacking, according to a new survey.
And Brummies are the worst offenders, with two-thirds of them admitting they do ten or more non-work activities every day, such as internet shopping, checking social media – and Googling medical conditions to find out if they are sick.
The nationwide poll of 2,000 people by probiotic drink maker Yakult found that the average worker spends 2.4 hours of an eight-hour shift not doing their job.
One in ten admitted to missing a work deadline as a result of non-work-related tasks and a further ten per cent said they had been sacked for slacking.
The biggest time-waster at work is checking the weather for the week ahead, which half of all workers do every day.
