Hilarious moment chunky pitbull recoils in terror from a tiny KITTEN

  • Dog was filmed standing on edge of sofa at a residence in Pensacola, Florida
  • A woman holding a kitten brings it towards pitbull and their noses briefly touch
  • The startled canine instantly flinches, does a double-take and cowers again

It may appear tough but this pitbull was filmed looking petrified after a close encounter with a kitten.

The video begins with the solidly built dog standing with its front paws on the back edge of a sofa in Pensacola, Florida.

Laughter can be heard as a woman holding the black kitten brings it towards the pitbull's face.

For an instant, their noses touch and then, with an almost cartoon-like expression of fear in its eyes, the dog flinches - only to do a double-take and cower again.

Meanwhile, the cat remains completely calm.

When the woman again brings the harmless feline towards the pooch, it reacts in the same way and looks set to spring off the rear of the couch, while the woman exclaims: 'Oh my gosh. So hilarious!'

The cat-and-dog encounter was filmed on October 8.

For a dog to be scared of a cat is not as unusual as it sounds.

Unfamiliar scent and vocalisations, coupled with a feline's sharp claws can be unsettling for canines.

If not tackled effectively, it can lead to anxiety in the dog which can then develop a phobia.

However, the two animals can co-habit quite comfortably if they are introduced and trained in the proper manner.
