'You had one job': Sydney's light rail project is hit with ANOTHER blunder as workers paint train markings in the wrong place

Sydney's embattled light rail project has suffered another blunder as workers paint train direction markings in the wrong place. 

A passerby noticed the mistake on Devonshire Street near Central Station on Friday and took a photo before posting the picture to social media site Reddit. 

The picture shows a set of two tracks in eastbound and westbound directions with painted signs on the road indicating the direction of tram travel.

If the signage was correct it would mean trams going in opposite directions would share a rail. 

Reddit users were unimpressed at the mistake. 

'You had one job,' one person said. 

'Looks like an extra $100m to fix,' another added. 

The painting of the signage was contracted out by Transport for NSW to ALTRAC. 

A Transport for NSW spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia they are aware of the issue and contractors ALTRAC will be rectifying the markings. 

The incorrect signage is the latest blunder in the ongoing light rail saga that has tested Sydneysiders' patience since construction began in 2015. 

Along with a cost blowout of over a billion dollars to $2.7billion, construction delays of over 12 months have left the city a permanent construction zone. 

In June last year, teenager Anna Lambden was rushed to hospital after she received an electric shock while walking near light rail construction in George Street. 

An independent investigation commissioned by the State Government found the incident was caused by an electric cable being compressed between the lid of a traffic signal pit and its supporting frame, according to the ABC.  

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Transport NSW for comment.
