Two teens have been spotted cheating death after they scaled Sydney's AWA Tower to 'take selfies.'

NSW Police were called to the scene after receiving reports people were climbing the tower on York St, in the city's CBD around 4pm.

Dramatic footage shows the two daredevils inside the tower's crow's nest before making their way to the top of the steeple of the 112-metre building.

At one point, one boy is seen extending his arm out while at the top of the spire and appears to take a selfie.

It is understood officers were waiting for them to come down to arrest them.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed the pair have been arrested and were taken to Day Street police station.

The two boys are believed to be 13 and 14 years old, 9News reported.

Witness Pedro Cuccovillo said he and his colleagues spotted the men climbing the building from his work office.

'We all held our breath,' he told Daily Mail Australia.

'[They were] taking selfies. They looked like they wanted to come back down but couldn't.'

The pair, who were dressed in black, were seen on the platform of the tower before they scaled their way to the highest point with no harnesses or any other type of safety gear.

'They were literally a slip away from death,' Pedro added.
