Terrifying moment a utility worker fixing a traffic light is clipped by a box truck - and survives

A Texas driver's dashboard camera captured the heart-stopping moment a truck clipped an unsuspecting utility worker repairing a traffic light along a highway last month.

Sugar Land-based photographer Andrew Wolf was driving along US 90 in Fort Bend County on February 25 when a white box truck in front of him doing about 50mph hit a utility bucket suspended over the road, as KTRK reported. 

The impact caused the bucket to overturn, tipping out the worker who was inside working on traffic lights at Pitts Road.

The worker's safety harness prevented him from plummeting to his death and he walked away unharmed 

The unnamed worker survived thanks to his helmet and his safety harness, which prevented him from plummeting to his death onto the busy road.

After hanging in mid-air for about 30 seconds, the man's colleague lowered the crane.

The truck responsible for the accident pulled over, and Wolf also stopped on the side of the road t call 911.

The worker appeared shaken by his near-death experience, but Wolf said he did not seem to have been physically harmed and was able to walk away.
