In an age of online messaging, Royal Mail is hoping to rekindle a fondness for the handwritten love letter this Valentine’s Day.
Romantic quotations from works by John Keats, Robert Burns, Anna Seward and Thomas Hardy will adorn red postboxes in locations across the country.
Mark Street, from the Royal Mail, said: ‘As one of the guardians of the written word, we relish the opportunity to celebrate the life and times of some of Britain’s most treasured writers.

Letterbox sites include London, Lichfield in Staffordshire, Dorset and Ayrshire – places which are associated with the writers.
