A former police officer has been warned he faces jail for corruption.

Ex Northumbria PC Jon Snaith has admitted he failed to report criminal conduct of others to obtain personal benefits for himself, including drugs and sexual services.

At Newcastle Crown court the 41-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of police corruption, between February 2017 and April 2018, and offering to supply cocaine on April 24 last year.

No further details of the offences were outlined during the short hearing.

Judge Paul Sloan QC adjourned sentence until a date later in the year.

Snaith, of Felton, near Morpeth, Northumberland, was given conditional bail in the meantime.

Judge Sloan warned him: 'I am going to adjourn sentence in your case.

'I am also directing the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

'You will understand that the face I am adjourning sentence and directing the preparation of a pre-sentence report is not an indication of the sentence that will be imposed.

'An immediate custodial sentence is pretty well inevitable in the circumstances of this case.'
