A 34-year-old Kansas man who authorities say suffocated his 2-month-old twin son by rolling over on him while they slept has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison.
Kyle Kempton was sentenced Tuesday to 32 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter and four misdemeanor counts of endangering a child.
Police say Kempton and his wife, Christy Rollings, had been drinking for a week before their son, Patrick Kempton, died in August in a Wichita motel. While Kempton laid in bed, the father rolled on the infant and killed him.
The other twin was not injured as he had been asleep on the floor with Rollings. He is currently in the care of another family member.

Kempton's attorney had asked for probation but failed to secure it for his client, the Wichita Eagle reports.
Rollings was charged with the same crimes and sentenced to probation for manslaughter and two years for the endangerment charges.
Judge David Dahl said that he considered the sentencing for both because they were 'always drunk.'
'No one here is advocating for Patrick, what wonderful life he would have had. I have to look out for that as well,' Dahl added.

Both child endangerment sentences would run concurrent to Kempton's prison sentence.

'I haven't been able to deal with the loss of either of my sons at all,' the father asserted.
'If we could change somebody else's life … That day I lost everything. I lost my freedom. I lost my son Patrick forever. I lost my other son because of the loss of my first son.'
Both child endangerment sentences would run concurrent to Kempton's prison sentence
The former chiropractor also explained that he had 'adjusted' and helped 'hundreds of kids' in the past.
'My entire purpose in life is to help as many people as possible,' he said. 'I loved my boys very much. They were my first kids.'
Prosecutors noted that the parents had met each other in substance abuse rehabilitation. They added that the two kept using alcohol 'knowing full well the dangerous consequences.'
Officers took the twins from the parents two days before the boy died at the Scotsman Inn, but a family member returned the children to them.
