Tom Brady beats Peyton Manning to set all-time touchdown record of 580 but the Patriots still lose to Miami's wild play
- The future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady threw the record-breaker in the first half against Miami
- Brady now holds the record in the regular and post seasons combined, but Manning still has the regular season record
- The Dolphins would spoil the day with a dramatic touchdown in the final seconds
- New England has now lost five of their last six games on Miami's home field
Another week, another milestone for Tom Brady.
The New England Patriots quarterback on Sunday threw his 580th career touchdown pass, surpassing former record holder Peyton Meyton. This includes touchdown passes thrown in the regular season and postseason.
Manning remains the NFL's regular season leader in touchdown passes with 539, with Drew Brees 21 behind him entering Sunday's games. Peyton retired in March of 2016.
Quarterback Tom Brady's latest milestone in his remarkable career came only 45 seconds into the second quarter as he threw his 580th touchdown pass to Julian Edelman (pictured, during game against the Miami Dolphins on December 9)
Brady's record setter was a 2-yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman early in the second quarter against the Miami Dolphins.
Despite the latest accomplishment in the quarterback's career, Brady could not avoid another setback in one of the few places where success for him is not automatic.
In a play already being deemed a 'Miami miracle', the Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw a final pass from deep inside his own territory.
Then things got wild as the receivers threw a series of lateral passes to each other to avoid tacklers culminating in a touchdown by running back Kenyan Drake and an improbable 34-33 comeback victory.
The win keeps the playoff hopes of the Miami Dolphins alive as they improved to 7-6 on the season.

The Patriots usually have no trouble against the Dolphins back in New England, beating Miami 38-7 earlier this year, but for some reason they have lost five of the last six games at Hard Rock Stadium.
'It's a big challenge, winning down there,' Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels told The Boston Herald. 'They play extremely well at home. We haven't played well down there.'
Adding a mild insult to the injury, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke Brady's record for consecutive passes without an interception today on a 24-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb in a 34-20 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
On November 25, Brady became the NFL's all-time leader in career passing yards -- regular and postseason - passing Manning's record of 79,279 yards.
And last week, in a much less prominent moment, Brady achieved a personal milestone of reaching 1,000 yards rushing on his career. It took him 18 1/2 seasons to do it.
