Britain has secured an ‘open skies agreement’ with the US to continue flights between the two countries after Brexit.
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said the deal, which replaces the existing EU aviation pact, was a mark of the countries’ ‘special relationship’.
Eight other post-Brexit aviation deals have been reached, including with Switzerland, Israel, Iceland, Albania, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Morocco, the DfT said.

Mr Grayling added that the agreements offered proof the UK will still be a ‘major player on the world stage’ after Brexit.
Britain will lose membership of the bloc’s open skies agreements in March next year.
However, Theresa May’s deal ensures that flights to Europe will continue after Brexit.
