A teenager who was punched in the head by a stranger on a train during a night out has died.

Laoa Faafua was attacked on a train in Perth in January, and on Sunday he died in hospital after suffering bleeding on his brain.

Fighting back tears, his brother Mose said he had 'just had enough'.

'From day one to his last breath, he was still fighting,' Mose Faafua said.

'I think he just had enough. He's having a rest now... We're going to miss him, but we'll never forget him.'

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to assaulting Laoa, during an attack which was captured on CCTV.

Laoa was punched after an altercation with a stranger, and was in intensive care ever since.

Mose Faafua said his family want the charge against the man upgraded.

'He can just walk around and eat and drink and do what he wants to do while my brother was suffering,' he said.

Before his death, Laoa was making small improvements including moving his fingers and speaking.

The 19-year-old was due to be sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm in two weeks, but the charge is now likely to be upgraded.
