A sedated Bengal tiger cub has been found inside a plastic container at a sorting office ready to be posted to another part of the country.
The two-month-old cub was discovered by federal police sniffer dogs carrying out a routine check of a post office in the city of Tlaquepague in the Mexican state of Jalisco.
The trained dogs detected noises and movements inside the plastic container and officers quickly spotted that it had air holes drilled into it. The lid was wrapped shut with tape.

When officers opened the box they saw the Bengal tiger inside.
The cub had been sedated and was lying on newspaper with no food or water inside the container.
The postal box was leaving the western state of Jalisco to travel to the state of Queretaro in central Mexico.

Federal police reported that this is the third endangered big cat to be seized by authorities this week. A female Bengal tiger was found at a postal company in Xoxocotlan in the state of Oaxaca while a jaguar was discovered abandoned in a cage by the roadside in Chihuahua.
The Bengal tiger is considered an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and appears on the group's Red List.
The tiger is ranked among the biggest wild cats alive today and is the national animal of both India and Bangladesh.
