- However the internet blamed the dash cam owner for not following the ute driver
Shocking dash cam footage captured the moment a ute driver fled the scene of the crime after crashing into the back of another car.
A motorist travelling on Ballarat Road in Braybrook, west of Melbourne, watched on as the driver appeared to crash into the back of a smaller car before speeding off, leaving behind the mangled wreckage.
While the cause of the collision is unclear, the ute driver appears to have rear-ended the stationary black car while the owner watched on in horror from a nearby business.

The footage, shared to the Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia, shows the driver roar off into a side street after reversing away from the significantly damaged car.
The owner of the black vehicle can be seen attempting to chase down the driver while another woman runs to his aid.
After capturing the brazen hit-and-run on his dash cam vision, the driver then continued to drive down the busy road.
Outraged social media commenters were quick to slam the ute driver for failing to own responsibility for the alleged collision.

However some directed the blame at the owner of the dash cam and criticised the driver for not following the ute around the corner.
'How come the DC driver didn't follow/chase the baddie? Disappointed!' one person said.
'Nice of the dash cam car to follow the ute to get footage of their plate,' a sarcastic commentator wrote.
The footage appears to have taken place on January 29 and Victoria Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they are investigating the incident.
