A new film, Crooked House, written by Downton creator Lord Fellowes, hits TV screens next Sunday, and it has many of the hallmarks of the much-missed drama.
But it is based on Agatha Christie’s most shocking murder mystery and is packed with deadly twists and turns that would stun even the unflappable Carson.
The story is set just after the Second World War in a rambling English country mansion called The Gables.
It features a fearsome, sharp-tongued matriarch called Lady Edith – played by Glenn Close – who would give Maggie Smith’s Dowager Countess a run for her money.
And in further echoes of Downton, the upper crust get involved in illicit liaisons, and there’s intrigue aplenty and glamorous costumes and beautiful vintage cars.
The star-studded cast also includes Gillian Anderson and Terence Stamp.
