A teenager is fighting for his life
today after he and two friends were
stabbed in the street by a gang of
youths.
The boys, one aged 15 and two 16-year-olds, were kicked, punched and
knifed repeatedly during the attack.
One is in a critical condition with
head injuries thought to have been
caused by a knife or screwdriver.
A second boy is believed to have suffered
a collapsed lung after being
stabbed in the chest and is said to be
in a serious condition.

The third boy, who suffered minor
injuries during the attack in the Old
Kent Road yesterday afternoon, is
today described as stable.
Witnesses told of a vicious assault
outside a supermarket that left the
three injured teenagers covered in
blood and lying in the street.
Shoppers at the Tesco store looked
on in horror as the gang of older
youths attacked.
John Owen, 30, of Peckham, said: "As I came out of Tesco, the boys
were just lying in the street with a
crowd of people around them.
"One had blood pouring from his
face and it looked like there was a
weapon stuck in the side of his head.
"Another had blood on his body
and it looked like he had been
stabbed in the back."
Kebab shop owner Abraham
Yildirim, 31, saw one of the boys
stagger in the road with blood pouring
from his head before collapsing.
He said: "There was an argument
between the three boys and these
other lads. Then the others just
attacked them.
"I saw one with blood all over his
face and in patches on his T-shirt. He
was standing there in shock. Then he
walked a few steps and fell over.
"He didn't move until the paramedics
came and put him in the ambulance."
The scene of the stabbing is not far
from where 10-year-old Damilola Taylor
was stabbed to death seven years
ago.
It follows a year of violence in
the capital in which 23 teenagers
have died after being shot or stabbed.
Forensics officers were carrying
out a fingertip search of the area.
A bicycle had been left lying in the
road.
A section of the A2 was cordoned
off, causing long traffic tailbacks in
the evening rush hour.
Police also sectioned off a large area of the Tesco
car park and a bus stop. The three victims
— all believed to be black —
were taken by ambulances to separate
hospitals.
No arrests have been made and
detectives, who are hunting five
youths in connection with the attack,
are appealing for witnesses.
Detective Inspector Bernie Galopin,
of Southwark CID, said: "Officers
were called to reports of three youths
suffering from injuries consistent
with stabbing.
"We are appealing for anyone who
was in the Old Kent Road at around
4.30pm to come forward.
"There would have been a large
amount of cars and commuters making
their way home at this time."
