In the break-fast lane! Mercedes driver takes both hands off the wheel to scoff a BACON SARNIE while travelling on a motorway
- Video catches driver on the M62 taking both hands off the wheel to eat breakfast
- The unidentified hungry culprit is thought to have been traveling at 50mph
- It is not illegal to eat while driving but drivers must be completly in control of car
- Carless driving can result in about a £100 fine and three penalty points
A driver has been caught taking both hands off the wheel to chow down on a bacon sarnie while driving down the M62 just outside Greater Manchester.
The reckless act was captured on video by passing motorist, Brett Mullineaux, on the way to his job on September, 12.
Footage taken on Mr Mullineaux's headcam shows inside a grey vehicle where two passengers are chomping down on breakfast - believed to be bacon sarnies.
The driver is then seen taking both hands off the wheel to dig in.
The hungry driver is thought to have been traveling at approximately 50mph down the busy motorway.
While it is not illegal to eat while driving in the UK, prosecutions can be made if drivers are not considered to be in proper control of their vehicle.
Careless driving like this can result in a fee of typically £100 and three penalty points on a license.
MailOnline reported last year how a driver was given a £145 fine and three points on her license for taking her hands off the wheel to eat a banana.
The driver appealed against the on-the-spot fine - insisting that she was in control of her car at all times - but pleaded guilty in court, sending her insurance costs soaring.
