Footage has emerged of cinema-goers brawling in the aisles in a row over a people talking too loudly during the hit clown horror movie It.

The violence was caught on camera by fellow audience members with smartphones at a cinema in the city of Vyborg, near St Petersburg, in north-western Russia's Leningrad Oblast region.

The footage shows a young man in a leather jacket stand up and challenge another who was sitting in front of him at the city's Vyborg Palace cinema.

They start exchanging punches and kicks before another youngster joins in the affray which witnesses said was sparked by complaints over people talking loudly during the film.

A burly man then joins in and chases away the man who appeared to have started the punch-up, as staff turned on the house lights.

One anonymous onlooker said of the instigator: 'He was sitting calmly, watching the movie, and then that happened.'

Police are investigating the disturbance but are not yet believed to have made any arrests.
