Fire in the hole! Incredible pictures show golfers casually putting at local course with Oregon wildfires raging in the background

A series of unbelievable photos shows golfers in Washington State finishing up a round while wildfires rage in the hills behind them. And they aren't fake. 

Owners of the golf course where the photos were taken told OregonLive that the photos were taken around 7pm on Monday night as a handful of men leisurely finished their game. 

'They were coming down the last fairway,' Tamara Mayfield, one of the owners of Beacon Rock Golf Course in North Bonneville, said.

She explained that on Monday there were about 100 people there, and that they took their time around the course and took a lot of pictures as the fires raged on in the distance.

The fire pictured is the Eagle Creek fire, which ravaged the hills of Washington State on Monday evening. 

The flames eventually merged with Indian Creek fire in the Columbia River gorge, and is now burning on an estimated 30,929 acres, having yet to be put out. 

Mayfield said that the photos make it look like the fire was on top of the golfers it was really at least a mile away. 

North Bonneville is just on the other side of the Columbia river from Oregon, which is where the said the fires were burning. 

One of the golfers, Brandon Crawford, was pictured in one of the photos that went viral on Reddit. 

He doesn't know who took his photo, but said that it was definitely real.

Though the fire was a mile away, one of the men who took the photos said said there were pieces of ash falling out of the air as they played

After the photo was shared online a number of people immediately doubted its legitimacy.

Crawford confirmed that the photos were real, telling Oregon Live in a phone interview: 'They were definitely not faked.

'When we first started there was a fire maybe the size of a grocery store.

'By the end of hole two, it was just crazy. The big one you're seeing on the internet was on hole nine.' 

And though the fire was a mile away and across the river, the golf-fanatic said there were pieces of ash falling out of the air as they played.

He explained that he and his friends took periodic breaks from their game to look up and watch the fire.
