Two Lake Tahoe sisters go missing after attending huge solar eclipse festival along with more than 30,000 people in Oregon

  • Their family from Lake Tahoe reported the pair missing after the festival 
  • Crook County Sheriff's office have appealed for information about the pair  

Police are searching for two sisters who went missing while travelling to see this week's solar eclipse. 

Melissa Lea, 18, and her younger sister whose identity has not been revealed were last seen at the Symbiosis eclipse festival near Prineville, Oregon on Sunday. 

Their family, from Lake Tahoe, reported them missing to Crook County Sheriff's Office who have launched an appeal for information.

Detectives have determined Lea's debit card was last used at the Symbiosis festival on Tuesday. 

According to KGW.com, more than 30,000 people attended the event, which is held at the Big Summit Prairie in the Ochoco National Forest. 

Lea was driving a black Toyota Sequoia on Californian licence plates.
