A 31-year-old mother drowned while trying to rescue her son during a tubing accident in a Colorado creek on Sunday.
Amber Raye Presson of Denver died on Sunday after she was unable to extricate herself from the waters of Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado, Fox 31 reported.
Police say that Presson and her 11-year-old son were tubing in the creek.
Shortly after entering the creek, the boy’s tube capsized and he was thrown into the water.
‘The mother went after him and was briefly able to save him; but they were once again overcome by the water and kept going downstream,’ police said.

‘The mother resurfaced one time and screamed for help before going back underwater.’
Police believe Presson hit her head on a rock and was knocked unconscious.
Bystanders rushed to the scene after her son yelled for help.
They then began to administer CPR until police, park rangers, and paramedics arrived.
Presson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy did not suffer any injuries. He was placed in the custody of relatives.
