An L-plate car crashed through a barrier and came to rest alongside the train tracks on the Mitchell Freeway on Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in the area for the second time that day, with the crash coming just hours after a separate crash at the Mounts Bay Road exit.

The white sedan reportedly crashed into the guard rails that separates the emergency lane and the train tracks at 2pm on the southbound freeway in Balcatta.

Caution was advised to all drivers in the area with all but one lane closed, and a flood warning near the Reid Highway entry is still active.
