A pet dog had a narrow escape after it fell into the water at a zoo in Jiangsu Province, eastern China.

According to Modern Daily, a couple brought a Bichon Frise to a drive-through tiger enclosure at Yancheng Wild Animal World in Changzhou yesterday afternoon.
The canine fell from a viewing platform on the first floor and into the moat which separates the animals and tourists.
Zookeepers shot firecrackers towards the two Siberian tigers and rescued the dog using a net.
Staff told reporters that they had previously warned the tourists not to bring in any pets.
The couple insisted that 'there will be no problem for bringing a small pet and will keep it close'.

The dog was saved by quick-thinking zookeepers. It was confirmed that the dog did not suffer any injuries and was examined by an on site veterinarian.

The gory video was widely shared online and received negative comments, Yangcheng Wild Animal World set up a monument in memory of the donkey on July 3.
The sign reads: 'I was born in the country on the farm. I should have grown up to have children and enjoy life on earth. This monument is calling for justice. I died in vein and should be remembered.'
