- Warden heard words ‘gun’ and ‘weapon’ being said by someone inside cubical
- But it turned out the man was simply an actor rehearsing his lines for a play
A terror alert was sparked on a train in France after a conductor heard the English words ‘gun’ and ‘weapon’ being spoken by someone inside the toilet cubical.
But after the police and military were called in to investigate, it turned out the man was simply an actor rehearsing his lines for a play.
The 35-year-old had shut himself away to practise his lines for an English-language stage role.

He was taken off the train for questioning and eventually released.
The drama unfolded on Wednesday, when tensions were high a day after an ISIS attacker was foiled outside the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris as he launched an attack on a police officer.
The high-speed TGV train buzzed through the French countryside en route from Marseille to Paris, France Bleu website reported.
A passing train guard who overheard the soliloquy raised the alarm, telling his bosses there was someone talking about weaponry in the toilet.

The train made an unscheduled stop in the city of Valence where security forces took the man for questioning at a police station.
‘Taking into account the current context of terrorism and the national threat level, the train guard did not take any risks and for the avoidance of doubt had the man questioned,’ a spokesman for national train company SNCF said.
