An upsetting clip has been released showing the moment a cat stuck up a tree for three days without food or water drops to the ground while a tree climber tried to rescue the animal.

The attempted rescuer, from Manchester, tried to save the animal after the fire service were unable to get the cat down from the 30 foot tree.

It is not yet known whether the unfortunate cat survived the fall into a nearby bush.  

The video uploader said: 'There was a cat stuck up an oak tree for three days and nights. 

'It had no food or water. The tree owner didn't know whose cat it was. 

'The fire brigade were called but couldn't do anything because once they had all the ladders set up, the cat just climbed higher into the tree or moved away from each fireman that tried to reach it.

'They even tried to hose it down!'

He added: 'The RSPCA were called and they asked us to help. 

'The unfortunate cat was having a bad enough time. 

'Before you watch the video, please bear in mind I'm not professionally trained in veterinary rescue and we didn't charge anyone for our services.'
