A 40-year-old man was chased through a busy residential area and repeatedly stabbed outside a shop as children played in the street.
The victim was set upon in what police are describing as a 'targeted attack' in Leeds, West Yorkshire, on Sunday morning.
He was cornered outside a convenience store and his blood-stained clothes were left on the ground.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are investigating and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward in relation to the incident. Officers said that the suspect made off on foot.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: 'We received a report of a stabbing in Beeston Road at 10.25am. The victim was injured with a knife.
'The victim, a 40 year old man was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
'The suspect, is believed to have left the area on foot and police are appealing for anyone who was in the area who may have seen the incident, or who has seen someone fleeing the area and discarding clothing to come forward.
