Purrfect: Rare tiger born in captivity
Last updated at 08:49 12 March 2007
A rare tabby Bengal tiger has been born this week in a wildlife sanctuary in Florida.
There are fewer than seventy tabbies still living in the world, with all having been bred in captivity.
Video:
Traditional Bengal tigers have black stripes, but tabbies are born with white and gold patches of fur.
The cub's mother, Kirtie, is a tabby while the father, Mathatma, is a traditional Bengal.
The last known tabbies living in the wild were reportedly killed in India during the 1930's.
