Royalty, the little girl believed, meant pomp, ceremony and a certain aloofness.
But then the Duchess of Cornwall sat down beside her and started blowing bubbles.
Within moments it was hard to tell who was enjoying themselves more.
Camilla met eight-year-old Farah Ahmad at the Children's Hospital in Kuwait on the second day of a ten-day visit to the Gulf with the Prince of Wales.

Farah, who is being treated for leukaemia at the hospital, has been blowing bubbles as part of pain management therapy.
"Aren't you a brave girl? Shall I have a go too? It's a long time since I've done this," Camilla said.
Nurse Mirna Tarajman explained the breathing technique involving blowing bubbles appeared to help youngsters having painful chemotherapy.
When the Duchess admired a flashing Kuwait flag brooch Farah was wearing, the little girl took it off and pinned it on Camilla's dress. "Take it. You are a very beautiful princess," she said.
Earlier, the Duchess, in a green tunic and scarf, toured a centre for child evaluation and teaching which helps youngsters with learning difficulties. While she concentrated on children, Charles was absorbed with politics, locked in talks with the Emir of Kuwait.
Among the subjects discussed were tensions with Iran and the Middle East peace process.
The royal couple arrived in Kuwait on a private jet on Monday night and will travel to Qatar, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai during their visit.
