Frank Valentic from Advantage Property Consulting told realestate.com.au the buyers 'would have paid whatever they had to pay' to secure the property.
Mr Valentic said it had a special attraction for the buyers because of 'the possibility of added parking and amenities and opportunity for expansion in the future.'
Barry Plant Coburg agent Chris Kavanagh said five people were bidding for the site.
'I believe that, at least in the short term, they (the buyers) will have someone from the community occupy the property, potentially for overseas visitors, something of that nature,' he said.
The previous owners were pleased with the high selling price Mr Kavanagh said.
