His case was adjourned until May 7 and he was not given bail, a court spokeswoman said.
Miss Marlow's fully-clothed body was discovered in the shower of her office in South Lambeth Road, Kennington, south London, on the evening of Saturday, January 13.
A post-mortem examination found the finance manager, 28, from New Zealand, had died of asphyxiation.
She had been in the UK since 2004 and lived in Lambeth with a female flatmate.
On the day of her death, she was due to meet her flatmate at a supermarket close to her workplace at 2pm.
She called her friend to confirm at 1.36pm but was not heard from again.
