That's a sweet deal! Starburst to release all-pink candy packs - but they'll only be available in April
- The candies will be available for a limited time to meet high customer demand
- Over half of all social media comments about Starburst are about pink chews
- They will cost $0.99 for a stick and $3.19 for a bag, and will come out in April
- The packs are available in participating stores including Target and Amazon
At last, America's dreams have been answered: Mars has announced that it will release all-pink Starburst packs for the first time.
The company has already bowed to public pressure by scooping out its orange and - ugh! - yellow candies for its FaveReds packs, but now it's gone one step further by producing an all-strawberry variant.
Be warned, however - the packs will only be available in April, and in participating stores.
Fruity: Mars is releasing these 'All Pink' limited edition Starburst packs to meet high customer demand for the strawberry chews, a spokesperson said
Fabulous: The packs - which will only be available in April - come after the success of the 'FaveReds' packs, which also contain the red (cherry) chews
'While everyone has a favorite flavor or color of Starburst, pink has always risen to the top for our fans,' spokesperson Michelle Green told USA Today.
She added that 'over half of all references to Starburst on social media are about pink Starburst.'
For those who aren't fanatical about flavors, pink Starburst are strawberry flavored, while the others are cherry (red), orange (orange, obviously) and the much-derided lemon (yellow).
Green said that the FaveReds packs - which only feature the pink and red candies - had already met satisfaction from customers.
'But when we continued to hear requests for the pink chew specifically, we knew there was an even larger opportunity for All Pink.'
The packs - which will likely be hoarded by candy lovers - will cost $0.99 for a stick and $3.19 for a bag.
You can buy them at retailers including Walmart, Target, Kroger, Walgreens, H-EB, Meijer and Amazon throughout April.
Predictably, Twitter has lit up in a sugar-fueled frenzy of excitement.
Heaven-sent: Fans went pink-crazy on Twitter, with this user only able to express her delight through a Beyonce gif. The candies will cost $0.99 for a stick and $3.19 for a bag.
Heroic: Chelsea M McKinney tweeted that Mars was 'the real hero America needs right now'. Retailers carrying the chews include Walmart, Target, Kroger, Walgreens and Amazon
Differences: While pink Starbursts are apparently the most popular flavor, the yellow (lemon) chews provoke a much stronger response
Appalled: Not everyone is on board the pink train. This user said she is 'down right disgusted' that people would pick pink over red (cherry)
