'Perfect' student, 23, was killed when the car she was a passenger in careered off the road and smashed into a tree

A student was killed after the car she was a passenger in swerved off the road and smashed into a tree, an inquest heard.

Dominique Wright, 23, was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle when it crashed on the A612 near Nottinghamshire.

Miss Wright, originally of Lincolnshire, had been studying for a master's degree in communications at the University of Leeds at the time of the incident.

At the time of her death in October, mother Angela Wright, 50, described her daughter as ‘perfect’, and a ‘princess’, while her father David, 54, said she was a ‘popular girl’ with ‘so much potential’.

An inquest in Nottingham has been opened and adjourned while police continue to investigate the circumstances of her death.

A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains on police bail. 

According to Lincolnshire Live, the initial cause of death has been identified as a spinal fracture.

The paper reported assistant coroner Ivan Cartwright said: ‘The brief circumstances were that Miss Wright was front-seat passenger in a car.

'The car was in collision with a verge with force, went into a ditch and was in further collision with a tree.

‘Miss Wright sadly sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.’ 

She had previously studied English at Sheffield Hallam University.
