A stalker plastered offensive posters of a policeman all over his home because of a bizarre grudge, a court heard yesterday.
Officers raided David Challinor’s scruffy semi-detached home to find their colleague Stuart Needham the subject of abuse on every wall and window.
Only one room was furnished and Challinor was barricaded inside, behind a wardrobe. The 47-year-old bachelor was arrested in bed. Scrawled all over the walls was the message ‘a police officer assaulted me’ with insulting references to Mr Needham.
Challinor began harassing the constable in 2010 after falsely accusing him of verbal and physical assault. He also blamed the officer for losing his CCTV job in Chester.
Challinor served 18 months on remand, before being given a two-year supervision order in August 2011 for harassment.
Yesterday he appeared before district judge Gwyn Jones on fresh charges relating to Mr Needham, as well as over an alleged stalking campaign against a shop assistant.
Wrexham magistrates court was told Challinor sent more than 50 love letters and gifts to Chloe Davies in the 15 months to January.
Challinor, of Gwersyllt, near Wrexham, pleaded guilty to harassment and was bailed but was hauled back before the courts yesterday after breaching an order not to contact 21-year-old Miss Davies.
In that incident – at the bakery where she worked – he stole some sandwiches.
Challinor admitted theft, a second charge of harassment against Miss Davies and sending malicious communications relating to Mr Needham. He will be sentenced next month.
