Last updated at 15:54 11 December 2006
Space shuttle Discovery is heading for a rendezvous with the International Space Station after tests showed no damage during take-off.
The shuttle is due to arrive at the station to deliver equipment and a new crew member.
It was the shuttle's first night-time launch since 2003 when Columbia was badly damaged by falling foam debris. The ship disintegrated trying to land 16 days later, killing all seven astronauts aboard.
