‘Dear Queen: No red carpet for Trump!’: Hundreds of placards dominate protests against the US President across the UK
- Protests took place against Donald Trump's immigration ban across several major UK cities tonight
- Thousands gathered outside Downing Street in London with some shocking and hilarious placards
- Others got creative with their designs in Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow
Cities across the UK were taken over by demonstrators tonight as tens of thousands of people staged protests against US President Donald Trump.
And just like the women's marches around the world earlier this month, many chose to get their message across on placards and posters.
Some carried serious messages about choosing love over hate and ending intolerance against Muslims and other cultures.
But others decided to get artistic and drew pictures of President Trump in a variety of guises.
Many more picked funny slogans or puns to draw attention to their protests against the President's ban on citizens of seven countries entering the US for 90 days.
Here are some of the signs that stood out from the crowd tonight.
London: One demonstrator went straight to the source with their placard, begging the Queen not to 'roll out the red carpet' for the President
London: Another protester took inspiration from Star Wars for a pun-tastic shot at UK Prime Minister Theresa May over the special relationship
Glasgow: This woman chose to dress as one of America's most iconic images - the Statue of Liberty - complete with a strange, stunted figure of President Trump
London: A bawling Donald Trump inserted into the word 'No' summed up what this protester thought of the President's approach to diplomacy
Cambridge: Many demonstrators showed off their artistic talents, with one drawing the President as King Kong on Trump Tower, pictured
London: There were also the predictable jabs at the American, with his 'tiny hands' coming in for some criticism
Bristol: Among the more bizarre placards was this one of the US President mocked up to look like an Oompa Loompa from classic children's story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
London: Not all the protesters were human, as proven by this pooch whose owner brought along a special sign
Leeds: It was not just the President who came in for some stick on the placard front, with Theresa May and the moment the pair held hands singled out for ridicule
London: The late Carrie Fisher provided the inspiration for this effort, with a pro-feminist message accompanying a picture of a blaster-toting Princess Leia from Star Wars
Bristol: Some in the US have already called for the President to be impeached, although judging by the sign this protester has the wrong end of the stick
London: Artistic demonstrators would not be deterred and painted both the US and UK leaders as sinister figures, pictured
London: Although there were those who could sum up their feelings in just one word (Sad!), others chose imagery over wordplay such as the demonstrator who stuck President Trump in a bin
London: The quality of the placards varied across the country but some went that extra mile, with this protester even attaching fairy lights to his anti-Trump message
London: Another contender for the most bizarre placard was this picture of a half-naked President wearing a loincloth made from the American flag simply pointing at the word 'No'
Edinburgh: President Trump's electoral opponent was not forgotten in Scotland, as protesters chose to use Hillary Clinton's slogan 'I'm with her' alongside images of the Statue of Liberty
London: Many protesters chose to spread messages of love on their placards such as 'fight ignorance, not immigrants'
London: This less than flattering jibe at the Prime Minister, pictured, clearly required a bit of extra effort to make her eyes glow red
London: Perhaps the simple approach worked best for this pair of protesters who summed up their positions succinctly
London: Another demonstrator chose rhyme as the best way to get their message across, taking aim at Mrs May for 'appeasing the President'
