Girl, 13, electrocuted on railway line

A 13-year-old girl died today after she was electrocuted on a railway line.
Emergency services were called to the railway line in Wirral, Merseyside, at about 2.30am.
It is believed the girl came into contact with the electrified line between Bidston and Leasowe station.
Paramedics tried to save the teenager but she died at the scene from her injuries.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
"It is believed that the 13-year-old girl, who is from the Birkenhead area, had been camping nearby with friends before the incident occurred."
The line was closed until 5.25am.
The accident happened on one of the main lines carrying golfers to The Open championship in nearby Hoylake.
It is understood a number of the girl's friends witnessed the incident, which happened between two stations.
The teenager is thought to have come into contact with the electrified third rail of the line.
